Evil in the Garden (Part Eight)

Journal Entry: Tuesday, July 11, 2006

Any time God asks man a question such as the one He asked Adam in the Garden of Eden; “Who told you that you were naked?” I would do well to try to understand why He asked Adam the question; and how it pertains to me. In the form of this question; God is saying to Adam, “If I didn’t tell you that you were naked; who did?” God asked Adam this particular question to make him realize that whoever he had been listening to was lying to him. And the only other person in the Garden of Eden besides Adam and Eve, was Satan, in the form of the serpent. If God did not tell Adam he was naked; then the bogus information Adam was repeating to the Lord God came from someone else. And I would do well to understand that it isn’t God telling His children we are sick, broke and disgusted, because He has provided for us through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ; health, wealth, and a sound mind, just as Adam enjoyed before the fall of man. (3 John 2) also (1 Peter 2:24, Psalm 1  and 2 Timothy 2:7)

Jesus  also informs us in John 8:44, “Satan is a liar, and the father of lies.” If Satan was lying to Adam back then about his situation, he did so because he hoped to gain something of value from his lying. In Adam’s case, the serpent, aka, Satan, lied to Adam to gain his authority over the earth and all that took place upon the earth. When Adam was created he was made lord of everything in, on, and around the earth, including Satan, and all of the angels who accompanied him when he was kicked out of heaven for trying to overthrow the throne of God.  Satan’s lies achieved his stated purpose of gaining the control he desired; but along with his lies came a curse from the Lord God that was fulfilled by Jesus Christ some four thousand years later. And when he lies to us today, he lies to us for the very same reason he lied to Adam: he hopes to destroy our life by gaining control of our health, our wealth, and our minds. Once Satan gained control of Adam’s authority; he was able to bring about the death of Adam and Eve that God had forewarned Adam would happen if he disobeyed His command to not eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Satan’s getting Adam and Eve kicked out of their garden and sentenced to a life of hard labor and painful childbirth’s was just an added benefit. And in our case; it appears Satan is a great deal more successful than people would like to admit; but like Adam, we make the choice to let him con us out of God’s blessings. This is what the Lord God was pointing out to Adam in the question, “Who told you that you were naked?” DThrash
