The Greatest Sin

There is one sin that is greater than all others and will keep a person out of heaven for all eternity. But first, before we get into our discussion about what that great sin is, let’s talk about what actually constitutes a sin and why God will not discriminate between a murderer and a liar on the day when all men will stand before the judgment seat of Christ. On judgment day a liar will be cast into hell just as fast as a murderer if those people never repent and ask to be forgiven of their sins before they leave this earth and appear in His courtroom. Most people don’t really think God would send a person to hell for telling a little white lie because we wouldn’t. What people fail to understand is that telling just one lie makes a person a liar, just like stealing one penny makes another person a thief, and one murder makes a person a murderer. Just because man has watered down the penality for breaking God’s laws, doesn’t mean God has. And because mankind has categorized crimes by degrees and has made murder a worse crime than lying; we think God will look at crime from our standpoint. He won’t! God does not look at the murderer as being a greater sinner than the liar, they are both sinners and both are equally guilty of breaking God’s laws and will be sentenced to hell because they came before Him as an unforgiven lawbreaker. In the eyes of men some of these crimes are serious enough to warrant death, and others are not, but all crimes are sins and all sins are crimes that carry with them a punishment that either has to be pardoned by God, or fulfilled. The punishment for our sins will be pardoned here on earth if we ask to be pardoned, but if we appear in God’s courtroom in heaven the sentences will be fulfilled. All of the crimes I have mentioned in this topic are a derivative of the one great sin. So without further ado let us proceed to the subject of this blog. The single greatest sin a person can commit is the sin of ‘unbelief’. Unbelievers refuse to acknowledge God for who He is, and do what He commands them to do. In yesterday’s blog entitled, “So you want to go to heaven do you?” I listed four scriptures that identifed Jesus as being the One who stood between mankind and God and blocked the entrance into the heavenly kingdom. These scriptures pointed out that before a person could have a relationship with the Father, they first had to acknowledge and pay tribute to His Son, Jesus Christ. In those scriptures, Jesus indentifed Himself as “the way,” “the truth,” and “the life,” and said, “No one goes to the Father except through Me.” He identifed Himself as “the Door” through which the sheep (who represent the believers in Christ Jesus) must enter the sheepfold.” (sheepfold is a term Jesus used for heaven) And He said to Peter, “If I do not wash you – you have no part with Me” And, “He who does not honor the Son, does not honor the Father either.” Now let’s look at one more scripture where Jesus makes it perfectly clear to everyone that He is standing between us and the Father, and if we want to go to heaven, we will have to go through Him. Jesus said in John 8:24, “… If you do not believe that I am He, (the One whom the Father sent into the world whereby a person can be saved, or gain entrance into God’s kingdom) you will die in your sins.” Unbelief is an act refusing to believe God’s testimony concerning His Son, Jesus the Christ. And if a person continues in their unbelief and dies in their sin, they will be cast into the everlasting flames reserved for the devil and his angels. Every person who wants to go to heaven will do so God’s way, or they won’t be going. There will be no unbelievers in heaven and there is no other way into God’s kingdom as clearly shown in the many scriptures I have posted in this short blog. If you still think there is another way into God’s kingdom and you die; you won’t have to wait long until you know you were wrong. Unbelief or failing to believe God’s testimony of His Son will get a person thrown into the fires of hell faster than an ice cube will melt in a pig iron blast furnace. God Bless. DThrash

Unbelief is rampant in the world today, and is a major sin because it glorifies the works of Satan and not God who has blessed us overall. Either we are with God or we are against Him. There is no middle ground in this battle. The church has tried to take the middle ground and not make waves, but God will no longer let us sit on the fence, or be neutral in this on-going war with sin. The church is in the state of being paralyzed by their inactivity, and it is losing ground every day as lawmakers around the world pass laws removing our power. Or in other words, every law that is passed is one more loop of the rope being wrapped around us binding us ever tighter. This binding has been allowed to happen because of our unbelief. And if we are to shake free of our bonds, we will have to make a decision on whom we will serve, or risk the alternative. We are drawing close to the day when a one world government is formed, and of which is currently in progress, as was prophesied two thousand years ago. During the reign of the one world government under the leadership of the anti-christ, the whole world will be united against God. What that means for the believer is, the return of the Lord is imminent. If Jesus is our Lord, we have nothing to worry about, but if not, we have a lot to be concerned about because the tribulation period is the time when God pours out His wrath upon mankind for their rejection of Him, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who is on earth with us now. When that day comes the rejection of the Godhead will be complete, and Jesus described the tribulation period as a time like there never has been, and if God didn’t shorten the time of it, no man would survive. That being the case, I have often thought, if a person can’t make a decision to give their life to the Lord during the time preceding the tribulation period while He is still present with us, will they have the strength to make that decision later when they know it means almost certain death if they do? To change from an unbeliever to a believer, or a sinner to a saint, takes the transforming power of God to complete. My hope is that men will recognize the time, and have a change of heart toward the things of God and repent of their sins. If not, they are in for a very difficult time in the not too distant future.
