If God Were Your Father

The two largest religons in the world, Christianity and Islam, both claim to serve God. So how do we know which one is the true religion? There are some who would argue that both are wrong, but what do they know? They worship animals, idols, trees, the sun, moon, stars, and any other number of things that in no way make sense. Then we have those who say there is no God, and there are those who idolize human beings.

Let’s see if we can eliminate some of these as being a serious religion. Animals are sustenance for the human body, idols are fashioned by the hands of men, trees are for bearing fruit, making paper, and heating our homes, the sun, moon and stars are a light by day, and a light by night. All of these things serve a purpose, but they hardly qualify as gods. Those who deny the existence of God do so because they love their sin more than they love their life. And if there is no God, there is no heaven, no hell, no reward, no punishment; and they are not responsible to anyone but themselves. It’s a nice thought, but no one is a law unto themselves. All things have a creator and the creator is always greater than the thing created. And lastly, man is a weak substitute for God, and anyone who idolizes people fail to realize the one idolized have just as many problems as anyone else.

The title of my message is, “If God were your Father.” And the rest of the statement reads, “You would love me.” This is a very simple litmus test. If we love Jesus, God is our Father. If we don’t love God’s Son, then God isn’t our Father, but someone else is. Jesus then proceeds to explain why people would love Him.” He states, “For I proceeded forth and came from God; I did not come on my own, but He sent me.” God asked for a volunteer to die so man could once again have a personal relationship with Him, and His Son volunteered. He then asked a question of those who didn’t believe Him, “Why do you not understand my speech? And gave them a brief answer, “Because you are not able to listen to my Word.”  They couldn’t listen to His Words because they couldn’t get past viewing Him as just a man. It didn’t matter that He did things for man that no man had been able to do before Him. He opened blind eyes, and cast out devils which not only demonstrated His ability to overpower the power of Satan, but to open eyes that couldn’t see and give them back their sight. The Apostle Paul said in 1 Corinthians 4:20, “The kingdom of God is not in word, but in Power.” Every kind deed Jesus did was done in demonstration of the Power of God. And no one, including all the men who claimed to have been messengers of God have been able to duplicate them. If these false teachers were of God they would have been able to do the works Jesus did, but they weren’t of God so they couldn’t. To further illustrate this point which separates Jesus from all other men proclaiming to be something they’re not, Jesus said in John 14:12, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to My Father.”  There have been many men who have been able to duplicate the miracles Jesus performed in the lives of men; but they were all Christians. Why is that? Jesus called those other wanna be’s, “Blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both will fall into a ditch.” (Matthew 15:14) So Jesus very plainly told those who refused to believe Him, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it.” And if we know anything about family traits, we know the children take on the characteristics of their father and emulate his words and actions.

“But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me. Which of you convicts me of sin? If Jesus was not sin free, He could not be the redeemer of mankind, nor could He have overpowered the kingdom of darkness and Satan because He would have been a slave of Satan just like the false teachers of these false religions who are leading billions astray today.  And if I tell you the truth, why do you not believe me? His last statement in this damming commentary of false religions separates the families on earth into two categories; those who are the children of the Father, and those who are the children of the devil. “He who is of God hears God’s words; therefore you do not hear, because you are not of God.” Have a Blessed and Wonderful Day in the Lord.
