Don’t Be Afraid

People think it is normal for a person to be afraid of some things. That isn’t true. We were not born with fear. So becoming afraid of things is something we learn in life either from people or experiences. There is a scripture in 1 Timothy 1:7 that says, “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.” So, if we are born without fear; and we begin to fear things, where does our fear come from? If we read 1 Timothy 1:7 closely, we see that fear is a spirit, and if it didn’t come from God, there is only one other place it can be from, and that is Satan. God operates through the power of faith, Satan operates through the power of fear. Faith and fear are polar opposites. If we are in faith, we are not operating out of fear. If we are fearful, we are not operating in faith. Fear says, “I can’t.” Faith says, “I will.” If we say, “I can’t do something.” We won’t, because fear paralyzes, it saps our energy and will cause us to freeze up in a crisis situation. And if we say, “I will.” We will, because our faith energizes us and strengthens us until we accomplish our goal. We are born with faith, but lose it when we start to fear. And whatever we fear will control our life. Doctor’s have all kinds of names for phobia’s, which is a fear of something. Regardless of what the name of the phobia is, it is brought on by the same spirit of fear. The only thing that changes in the realm is the object. Faith on the otherhand looks at the difficulty and immediately starts figuring out a way to overcome it. One is from God, the other from Satan.

In that same scripture we will also see what we were endowed with at birth. He gave us a spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. If we are not in possession of the things God gave us at birth, it is because we have chosen for whatever reason to become fearful, instead of powerful, loving, thoughtful and kind. I can tell you from personal experience that once you let fear into your life, it will take the power of God to break its hold on you. The flesh of man is not strong enough in itself to break the power of a spirit. It takes the power of a greater spirit (God) to free us from another spirit. (Satan) Does that mean that I will never be afraid in some circumstances? No, it doesn’t. Fear is present in this world and it has to be dealt with. So there will be times you will experience the presence of fear, but you do not have to fear it, because the one in you is greater than anything from outside of you.

It might also help us to understand that everything we experience in life ranging from fear to faith comes from outside of our body and influences the decisions we make. However the presences of the influence changes if we invite that particular spirit in. When the spirit of fear is invited in it will certainly come in and begin directing a person’s life. God on the otherhand is also an external force that must be invited in. And once we make the invitation, He comes inside and makes Himself at home. And, He, too, once inside, will start directing our lives, but for a different reason. God works in us to improve our life and situation by building up our self esteem, our physical and spiritual strength, and our boldness. The spirit of fear on the otherhand will do everything within its power to destroy our life in anyway it can. The nature of fear is destructive. It’s a destroyer. It’s ultimate objective is to keep our eyes on it and off of God until an opportune time comes for it to take our life.

You don’t have to be afraid. Remember, God gave us a spirit of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. That power, that love, and that sound mind is in you. But, if you have allowed fear to take up residence in you, it has camoflauged the power, the love, and the sound mind that resides in you. If you want to dislodge the fear, “Invite the Lord in, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is LIBERTY.” Or in other words, when the Lord comes in, because He is greater in power than the spirit of fear; the spirit of fear will leave and not return as long as the Lord is present. And I can tell you, the Lord has no intentions of letting you slip back into the hands of His enemy. Have a Blessed and Wonderful Day in the Lord. DThrash
