The Business of Life
Do you know before God the Son came to earth as a man named Jesus; men had no hope. They lived by a set of laws that said, “Do this, don’t do that”, and if they adhered to them well enough they entered into a place called Paradise when they died. The Christ of God came to change all that, and to tell man, Life is Serious Business and is to be taken seriously. He came to give them hope and a future. He did this by coming to die in their place for their sins. He was innocent, but was killed by people who did not know how serious Life is to God. Of course, that was the Father’s plan. If the Christ didn’t die and pay the penalty for the sins of man, men would have remained without hope. With God, Life is Serious Business. He didn’t create man to live apart from Him. A man who lives his life apart from God lives a wasted life. So when Jesus, the Christ, came to the earth and met with people, He didn’t mince His words and many of His listeners went away offended and angry because of the things He said. Why did they leave? Because He told them the truth and they got their feelings hurt. Just like people do today. Everything Jesus said was controversial. He forced people listening to Him to think about life. He upset their traditions and the words He spoke demanded change. Change in the listener, change in the society in which they lived, and change in the way they worshipped God. As a result, some people wanted to kill Him, some people loved Him, but most people followed Him for what they could get from Him. This is a sad commentary of the people of His day. But, Do you know? People still do the same thing today. With the passing years and the many thousands of books that have been published on the subject of Life, people still haven’t learned a single thing. People still get angry at Him because He demands change, people still love Him because He gives hope to the hopeless, but the majority of people still follow Him for what He can do for them. Christian Bookstore shelves are full of books telling you how you can be blessed and receive this or that from God, but the majority of these books promote the lust for things, they never tell you the blessings of God come at a cost. God blesses those people who labor in His fields and who labor for honest gain. He does not and will never bless those people whose reasons for doing things in His name is so they can spend what they will supposedly get from Him upon their own lust. If you want the true blessings of God; help Him expand His Kingdom on earth. God isn’t our sugar daddy, but the unknowing think He is. If you think there is some way to receive the blessing of God other than doing things His way, you are wasting your time, money and effort, and making someone else rich in the process.
The name of my blog is; “The Voice of Truth.” The messages I write seem to be hard on the Christian, but that is not my intent. I write the blog entries in hopes people will look at life from a different perspective and realize that just because we attend church on a regular basis and have been taught we are fireproof is not giving serious thought to living life. I cannot find any supporting evidence to support these people’s line of thinking in the scriptures. But what I do see is a lot of sick folks in the church, a lot of people with money problems in the church, and a lot of people with mental problems, all because they do not understand why Jesus came and why He died the way He did. If we are followers of the Son of God, and our life does not improve over time, then something is seriously wrong, and it isn’t with the teachings of the Son of God, but in our understanding. Jesus gave us hope, but if the only future we can see is dying from a debilitating diseases, dying broke, and living in a nursing home during our latter years; that isn’t much of a future to look forward to? Let us all go now while we are still healthy and have a quality life. Wake up my friend! There is a fly in the cookie dough because Jesus said He came to give us life more abundantly in [John 10:10b], and dying broke and sick is not what I call living life more abundantly.
Christians gets into trouble when they do things contrary to the will of God because those things add nothing to our life. But when we live life according to God’s will, Life is added to our life. And as a result of living life according to God’s will the Christian becomes a stronger person better able to deal with the temptations of life without giving in to the fear of failure. God didn’t create man to fail, He made man to rule. And this is the one area of the bible pastors fail to teach to their congregations. Then they wonder why their fellow Christians fail to understand the redemptive value of Christ’s death. If Christ only died to assure us of going to a better place when we die, He died in vain. But, if He died so that we might live the abundant life He lived, then we have hope that our life will improve as our understanding grows. God tells us in Hosea 4:6, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.” What knowledge are we lacking? The knowledge of the redemptive qualities of life granted to us in the here and now through the death of His Son. That’s why Jesus came. That’s why He taught the things He did, and that is why He healed, delivered and set people free. He gave hope to the hopeless and life to the lifeless. Friends, that’s us. If we are without hope and without the abundant life Jesus gave to us, we are not living life in the manner God desires for us to live it.
Can you look past your doubt and unbelief for just a minute and look at what is included in the simple act of making up with a friend with whom you’ve had a spat. When the two of you forgive each other it is as though no transgression ever occurred. Everything about the relationship that was wrong was healed when you forgave each other. Do you see that? All the hurt feelings, the ugly words, everything was forgiven, and the relationship is restored and both friends are happy. This type of restoration is exactly what takes place in the new birth of the born again Christian. Everything that once separated you from God has been healed and forgiven; nothing was left out. Your life was completely and totally restored to its original state by God in this single act of forgiveness. Stay with me now and let’s listen to Jesus explain this to a group of scribes. [Matthew 9:2] “Then behold, they brought to Him a paralytic lying on a bed. When Jesus saw their faith, (the faith of the people who brought the paralytic to Jesus) He said to the paralytic, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” This man was brought to Jesus to be healed of his paralysis, but Jesus didn’t say to him, “Be healed!” Rather He said, “Son, be of good cheer; your sins are forgiven you.” Meaning when this man accepted the forgiveness Jesus was offering to him, he would be healed of his paralysis because his paralysis was a result of some sin which leads to death and of which is included in the act of forgiveness Jesus offers. Do you understand? Now read on as the Apostle Matthew tells us what took place next: “And at once some of the scribes said within themselves, “This Man blasphemes!” 4 But Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, “Why do you think evil in your hearts? 5 For which is easier, to say, ‘Your sins are forgiven you,’ or to say, ‘Arise and walk’? 6 But that you may know that the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins”—then He said to the paralytic, “Arise, take up your bed, and go to your house.” 7 And he (the paralytic) arose and departed to his house.”
Dear friends, When you were forgiven of your sins and the results of them. You were set free of illness, poverty, mental illness etc., because in most all cases these infirmities come as a result of sin and the curse operating in your life. Sickness, disease, and infirmities, poverty, and anything else that affects our life in a negative manner is not of God; and He does not receive glory from them no matter what some people may believe or preach. If these things were of God, they would not be included in and covered by God’s forgiveness. Don’t you understand that would make God a hypocrite. The key to understanding this is as Matthew described; you have to know these things are covered in God’s forgiveness, and like the paralytic, you have to receive them. God’s desire is that you would enjoy the more abundant life that has been offered to you through His forgiveness. If you don’t accept the Truth of these scriptures, God can’t help you. But if you can accept them for what they are, God will completely restore your life to the specifications He prescribed in His Word. It is imperative that you know the devils job is to blind you to these facts, but the job of your pastor and my job is to tell you what was included in God’s forgiveness. If you aren’t being taught these simple basics truths of God’s Word in the church you are attending; you need to get out of that place and go find one that teaches the whole Truth, not just tidbits of it, because according to Hosea, God said, “What you don’t know will destroy you.” (my paraphrase of Hosea 4:6) The business of your life is far too serious to pass through it not understanding what your rights are as a child of God.
