Who is a liar but he who tells lies. People say, “More than anything else, they hate a liar.” I can understand the reasoning behind why people hate a liar. When people tell you a lie, they are hiding the truth from you because they want to make themselves look big in your eyes, or to cause you harm. In either case, it’s not a good situation. Everybody knows what a lie is. A lie is the exact opposite of the truth. If a person believes a lie, they do so because they don’t know what the truth of the matter is. And the reason a person doesn’t know what is true is because they haven’t investigated the whole story to determine the facts. Therefore they accept whatever they are told as being the truth. The person who doesn’t investigate a matter before forming an opinion is putting themselves in a position to be hurt. As you know, there are just two ways a person can lie to you. One is with words and the other is by their actions. When what a person says does not line up with what they do, believe what they do rather than what they say, because a person is always true to what is in their heart or spirit.
You cannot always believe what you hear without knowing all the facts, and what you see may not be what you thought you saw. Let me use the magician as a teaching point. What you see the magician do is not what the magician does. Are you with me? When he places a young lady in a box and saws it in half, he does not cut the lady in half even though there is a head, feet and arms sticking out of the two sections when they are parted for you to see into. He fooled your eyes, but in your heart you know better. So your eyes can be fooled into believing they saw something they didn’t see even though you are looking at what appears to be evidence contrary to what you know. Are you still with me?
Now in the bible Jesus said, “Satan is a liar and the father of lies.” [John 8:44] Once again, the liar lies to you to hide the truth from you as we saw in the illustration of the magician. If you know what the truth is you can know when you are being lied to. But if we fail to investigate a matter to learn the whole truth we just might believe what we hear based upon evidence contrary to the truth. Now, if we believe a lie we have no one to blame but ourselves, because if we do our homework we will not be fooled by a liar. Jesus said in John 8:44 that Satan is a liar and the father of all lies, and from our definition of a teller of lies, a liar attempts to make things or themselves appear to be something they are not, or to appear to be more than what they are. Now back to the magician, what the magician does to the people he entertains is lie to them with his action by making something appear to have happened that doesn’t happen. We don’t call him a liar even though everything he does is designed to deceive us because we know what the magician does is harmless fun and no one gets hurt. However, Satan, the Master Magician, is an invisible being with powers to manipulate the natural world around us, so he can not only deceive a person into believing something that isn’t true, he fully intends to bring great harm to that person as a result of his deception.
Most people don’t realize this but the bible has more to say about Satan and how he accomplishes what he does than it does about heaven because God wants people to know their enemy and how he operates. The bible also teaches us the important things in the life of a person outside of their relationship with God is their health, their finances, and their mental state. Guess where Satan attempts to deceive us most often? You’re right; in the areas of our health, our finances, and our mental state or area of intelligence. And the benefits God bestowed upon mankind is the foundation for our Department of Health, Education and Welfare the government setup to help meet the needs of the people. Imagine that. Our government who denies the reality of God, implements His programs to look after its people. Talk about hypocrisy. God ensured man could enjoy these all the days of his life through the death of Jesus Christ. The Apostle John said it this way in a letter to the church in 3 John 2, “Beloved, I wish above all things that you may prosper, and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” It’s important to God that people enjoy his benefits of good health, prosperity in this life, and that our minds remain sound. The stripes Jesus bore on His body were for our healing. [1 Peter 2:24 and Matthew 8:17] Jesus became poor (gave up His rights to the wealth of heaven) that we might be rich. [2 Corinthians 8:9] And the crown of thorns placed upon His head was for our sanity; the blood He shed was for the cleansing of our sins. These things were not done in a dark corner but out in the open for all men to see and are documented in historical records as having taken place. What is not understood is why God allowed these things to happen to His Son and what their significance was for mankind. When we understand the why, the bible makes perfect sense. If we believe anything contrary to what actually happened because of our lack of knowledge of the event, we are being deceived by the liar and will allow great harm, ie; sickness, poverty and mental illness to set upon us. The testimony of the Roman Centurion who was in charge of the crucifixion of Jesus said, “Truly, this was the Son of God” [NKJV] because the earth quaked and split open, it turned pitch dark in the middle of the afternoon, and a veil of material a foot thick separating the holy of holies from the rest of the temple behind which the Holy Spirit of God lived, was ripped in to from top to bottom and flung open as the Holy Spirit left God’s man-made temple, when Jesus said, “It is finished, (or His work was finished,) and died!” [Matthew 27:54]
Dear one, Satan hates you more than the person who tries to harm you with their lies. Their purpose is the same; they both intend to hurt you through deceit. The only difference between the two is the person lying to you is deceived and is being used to serve Satan’s purpose. And those nine hundred and ninety-nine people out of a thousand who are telling you – you can’t do this, and you can’t do that, and you will never amount to anything; are liars. They do not tell you these hurtful things for your benefit, but because they hate you. They don’t want to see you succeed where they have failed and by saying these hurtful things, they are trying to steal from you the life you have been promised by God.
You won’t want to acknowledge this, but the people who lie to you the most are your family and friends. A stranger has no reason to lie to you because they don’t know you well enough to want to hurt you. You don’t have to believe what I wrote, but when a person has been a victim of a crime, the first people the police question are your family and friends if they live anywhere near you. They want to know who knew you well enough to want to victimize you. What motive did they have for committing the crime? And what you think will not influence the investigation of the police, and what you believe doesn’t change what Jesus came and did in your behalf. And because of what He came and did in your behalf, you will be held accountable for believing lies and helping the liar destroy your life because of those lies. You will be held accountable because the life you live does not belong to you. It belongs to God who gave the life of His Son as the purchase price for the redemption of your soul when He allowed His Only Begotten Son to die on that cross in your place.
Satan tells people, “Ain’t you something to behold.” (Vanity and Pride) Or, “You are a worthless piece of trash.” (Insecure with a poor image of oneself) He’s lying. If you believe him you will be the one to pay the consequences of believing that lie. God didn’t give anyone a poor self-image, nor did He make them vain and proud. God tells us, “Pride/vanity goes before a great fall.” Remember the story of Humpty Dumpty, the egg-head who sat down in a place he shouldn’t have. “All the king’s horses and all the king’s men couldn’t put Humpty Dumpty together again.” His fall destroyed him and so will a person’s pride and vanity, insecurity and a poor self image. Once your fall is complete, only God can restore you again. Men can’t restore a broken person any more than the king’s men could restore Humpty Dumpty, but in most cases man is who we go to for restoration knowing full well all he can do is dull the pain. All the medicine in the world can’t repair a broken man who has been broken in his finances, mind, or physical health by the lies he has accepted as truth.
The person who is humble before God, trust God. To them, God said, “Nothing shall be impossible to them who believe.” Meaning, if we can dream it, we can live it because He has given us the power to live the kind of life we want. To those who don’t know the Lord and say, “I’m neutral.” You’re believing a lie. A person cannot remain neutral in a war where everyone is of the truth or telling lies. You are either serving God, or serving Satan, the father of lies. There is no neutral party. You have to choose to believe a lie just like you do to believe the truth. We act according to what we believe, and any time we do a thing without investigating the matter fully, we are setting ourselves up for failure and to be hurt. So, if your life isn’t turning out like you hoped; or you think you’re somebody when in fact you aren’t any better than the next person; discover what the truth is, put it into effect in your life, and everything about your life will change. If you do nothing and continue as you are, things will change and get worse until you die broke, sick, or alone. What you believe and do, determines the outcome. You can count on it. That’s how things work in this life. Know the truth, serve the Lord, and the truth will set you free of the lies of Satan and the lies you have believed.. DThrash
