Faith and Doubt

Faith and Doubt are polar opposites of one another. One believes the best will happen to us while the other believes the worst will happen. The bible tells us in Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he.” This scripture applies to both good and bad and it’s the one thing that sets us apart from every other creature God created. What we believe in our heart; we will become.

Christians are suppose to be people of faith, but many of them harbor just as much doubt in their hearts as the unbelievers. So it is from this observation that I address this state of affairs in God’s church. The definition of doubt is having more confidence in what Satan can do to us, than what God has done for us.” Doubters are by nature negative people. They cannot maintain a charge because they don’t stay connected to God through His Word long enough to receive the power they need from Him to become people of faith. Thus, they are a constant drain on people of faith. Jesus wasn’t interested in hearing about people’s problems because all He had to do was look at them and know the devil had been at work in their life. He just asked them what they wanted Him to do for them, and if they believed He would do it; He fulfilled their request and sent them home.

Doubt has all kinds of issues attached to it that manifest themselves in various ways; such as sickness, poverty, mental issues etc. Jesus dealt with their doubt issue by destroying the doubt they lived with and replaced it with faith in God. Those people went home problem free because when Jesus removed their doubt; faith in God burst forth and the blessings of God manifested themselves in the lives of those people by healing them, delivering them, and setting them free of their problems. Do you understand? The power of God is only released into our lives through our faith in His ability to deliver us from our own doubts.

Doubtful people oftentimes look for sympathy rather than answers and do not understand that by the words they speak and the actions they perform; they are glorifying Satan and the work he does through them. They do not understand that Satan could do nothing on this earth if man was not willing to be his mouthpiece, hands and feet, and help him spread his lies among mankind. In other words, without the assistance of man, Satan is helpless. He does not have any power on earth until man lends Satan his power. Satan lost his power over us when Jesus broke the hold Satan had on earth when He went to hell in our place and took the keys of death and hell from him. Do you understand? Satan is a nobody. He is not all powerful. He is powerless. For him to create havoc on earth, we must allow him to use our power to do so. If we don’t lend Satan our power, he has no power, and all he can do then is present to us a picture of us failing, and more times than not, we fall for this lying picture of ourselves, hook, line and sinker. Do you understand; it is not Satan who causes us to fail. We fail because we believe the lies of Satan and act on them as though they were true.

Now let’s look at faith. “Faith is having more confidence in what God has done for us, than what we are willing to let Satan do to us.” Do you see that? John 10:10 tells us, “The thief comes to steal, to kill, and to destroy, but I (Jesus) am come to give you life, and life more abundantly.” The prophet Jeremiah wrote in Jeremiah 1:12, “God watches over His Word to perform it.” In other words, when we have more confidence in what God has done for us, than we are willing to allow Satan to do to us… God will perform His Word in our behalf; and we will receive the things we are believing Him for.

God tells us in Isaiah 55:11, “So shall my Word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.” Our faith in God will never fail if we do what He instructs us to do in His Word. For us to fail, God would have to fail; and that is an impossibility. When Satan presents to you a lying picture of you failing – stop him dead in his tracks by telling him to get behind you where he belongs. Jesus did and Satan disappeared faster than a fog on a hot morning. Dthrash
