Inspired By Christ

This is the Christmas season and many people are inspired by the sights, sounds, music, the parades, the lighting of the tree, the giving and receiving of gifts, and football and basketball on television. I love all these things too, but they are not why we celebrate Christmas. Jesus is the reason for the season and for this particular reason all of us should be inspired by the thought that our Father God, sent His only begotten Son into the world about this time of year to be born of a virgin, live to adulthood, and die for the sins of man. Just think, when Jesus walked the earth, people could touch the face of God, they could walk with Him, talk to Him face to face, hear Him speak wisdom never heard by mortal ear, receive a miracle from His hand, see Him calm the stormy sea, heal the sick, cast out devils, raise the dead, feed the hungry, and set the demon possessed free of their demons. There has never been a more joyous occasion on earth, nor a more joyful reason to enjoy this season. Man is no longer estranged from His God. Because of this one event that happened some two thousand years ago; I cannot think of a single thing that should inspire us more than the telling and the retelling of this wonderful story. God is not mad at man. The angels sang, “Peace on earth, goodwill toward man.” The words to the song the angels sang came upon man when Jesus Christ, the Son of God was born in a manger in Bethlehem. That peace and goodwill has never left. It is still here and will always be here for those who love Christ and celebrate His birth. So if we are going to be inspired this Christmas season, let it not be for the sake of a tree, presents and the spending of money, but let us be inspired to tell the story of the birth of Christ as it was meant to be told.
